New paper ‘Kansen Benutten, Kansen Scheppen’ launched

24 May 2023

The Dutch government is preparing a review of its cultural policy and system. On 2 March Gunay Uslu, State Secretary for Culture and Media, asked the Dutch Council for Culture for advice, including an international dimension of Dutch cultural policy and its infrastructure. The advisory document will be published in November 2023.

In parallel to the request for advice on the cultural system the government is working on the revision of the policy framework for international cultural relations.

We produced the paper Kansen benutten, kansen scheppen as a contribution to both processes. It reflects on opportunities for the Dutch cultural sector to participate in European cooperation and to influence future European cultural policy. It contains many examples from practice – ranging from greening the cultural sector to the digital transformation and promotion of sustainable development goals – and concludes with a series of recommendations.
