Support

Culture brings people together

It is how people meet across differences, share stories, and build trust. It is where belonging grows in libraries, media spaces, community projects and cultural initiatives across Europe.

These spaces help communities stay open, connected and resilient. With the right support, they continue to grow and reach more people.

Your support helps make that possible.

What your support helps create

Your contribution helps turn shared challenges into shared strength.

Europeans connect across backgrounds and generations.
Communities find new ways to work together.
Independent voices create space for dialogue and understanding.
Cross-border collaboration helps people feel part of something larger than themselves.

How your support works

For almost 70 years, the European Cultural Foundation has helped culture bring people together across Europe. We connect local initiatives with European networks so ideas can grow, travel and inspire others.

Alongside this work on the ground, we also help create the conditions that allow culture to continue to grow. We share what communities are learning across Europe with institutions, partners and funders so that libraries, media spaces and cultural initiatives are better supported in European funding programmes and public decision-making. This means the connections your support makes today can open the way for many more communities to build similar spaces of belonging tomorrow.

Every Euro donated will go entirely and directly towards delivering cultural initiatives across Europe, including funding for organisations and individuals through open calls.

In 2024, support like yours brought cultural action to life across Europe. It backed 50 initiatives through the Culture of Solidarity Fund, connected 57 libraries and communities in 25 countries through The Europe Challenge, and reached over one million people through programmes such as the European Pavilion.

Across libraries, neighbourhood spaces, cultural venues, and digital platforms, people came together to exchange ideas, build relationships, and help shape their communities.

“Support from the Culture of Solidarity Fund enabled us to produce The Walk – a theatre project featuring Little Amal, a 3.5 metres tall puppet of a 9-year-old girl. Walking 8,000 kilometres across Europe in search of her mother, Amal’s journey during the Covid-19 pandemic was enabled by relays of puppeteers. In a visionary act of solidarity with the plight of refugees, the project bore a single message on behalf of thousands of displaced children: Don’t forget about us.“ — Walk with Amal (UK), grantee
"Participating in The Europe Challenge has helped our local library to create a new vision for our city of Sant Boi de Llobregat, just miles from Barcelona’s busy international airport. By installing beehives at our library, we were able to champion biodiversity and experiment with our local community on ways of greening our city." — La Biblioteca Jordi Rubió i Balaguer (Spain)

These are the moments where Europe is lived: through connection, shared experience, and the everyday practice of coming together.

Behind every number is a person finding connection, a community gaining understanding of one another and working together, and a space that remains open to all.
