Five Finalists Shortlisted for The European Pavilion 2024

We are delighted to announce that following an exceptional response to our call for curating and hosting the European Pavilion 2024, we now have a shortlist of five finalists for the commissioning grant of EUR500,000. An independent jury, comprising seven members with diverse cultural backgrounds, expertise, and practices, chose from a competitive longlist of 11 candidates. The selection was based on the projects’ potential to radically reimagine Europe and provoke critical questions.

Sepake Angiama, the jury chair and artistic director of the Institute for International Visual Art in London, shared her reflections on the selection process. According to Sepake, “The selection process has been rigorous. All the jurors have been very committed and read through all the proposals thoroughly. They raised pertinent questions, and I am really happy with the selection of the five finalists, which we will begin interviewing soon.”

Over the coming weeks, we will introduce the 5 finalists and present their proposals. In January 2024, the name of the organisation that will develop and host The European Pavilion 2024 will be revealed.
