Free webinar series: If Librarians Ran Europe Back

Free webinar series: If Librarians Ran Europe

19 Nov 2024

What Would Europe Look Like If It Was Run by Librarians?

Libraries are not only houses for books. They promote literacy, provide access to knowledge and lifelong learning opportunities, offer safe spaces for debate, and nurture generations of critical citizens. Some of the last remaining safe public places for everyone, libraries play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy society.

As the 2024 edition of The Europe Challenge draws to a close, we are thrilled to announce a three-session webinar series showcasing the work of our past and present library and community participants, who are contributing towards a more vibrant, inclusive, green and connected Europe.

Join our free, three-session webinar series and hear directly from librarians and their local communities across Europe about how they work together to address challenges such as social isolation, inequality, disinformation, and climate crises.

In the meantime, we invite you to discover some of these initiatives in our new publication How Libraries Thrive, which centres on the vital role of libraries in maintaining a healthy society. With contributions from sociologist and bestselling author Eric Klinenberg, climate activist Mikaela Loach, #BookTok star Jack Edwards, library architect Francine Houben, and librarians themselves, we’re certain you will find this an inspiring read.

For any questions regarding the webinar series, do not hesitate to reach out to us via theeuropechallenge@culturalfoundation.eu.
