Invisible Walls

3 Jun 2013

One of the recent projects funded by BIFC was Invisible Walls by ODA Theatre – a thought-provoking performance created by artists from Kosovo together with fellow artists from Canada/Austria, France, Macedonia and the UK. Invisible Walls premiered at the Oerol Festival in the Netherlands in June 2013. The festival’s island setting provided a perfect backdrop for a performance that explored the theme of freedom.

ECF chose to support this project through BIFC because it explored the use of public space in countries like Kosovo and Macedonia where artistic public interventions rarely happen, as well as creating new places for showcasing arts and culture and bringing people together. ODA Theatre – which celebrated its tenth anniversary last year – is the only independent theatre in Kosovo with its own theatre space.

Invisible Walls is a collaboration between ODA Theatre and Desperate Men (UK), Lieux Publics (France), Skupi Festival (Macedonia) and UZ Arts (United Kingdom), in partnership with the IN SITU network and Oerol Festival.
