EUIdeas 2026: The Power of Knowledge

7 Apr 2026

On 8 May 2026, the European University Institute brings together academics, policymakers, civic actors and citizens for EUIdeas: The Power of Knowledge, a flagship event within its 50th anniversary programme and the launch of a new platform for debating Europe’s future. Taking place at Badia Fiesolana, the day focuses on how knowledge shapes Europe’s present and future.

Structured as a series of interconnected conversations, the programme moves across themes including democracy, climate governance, migration, artificial intelligence and culture. Sessions are organised into thematic pathways that allow participants to follow different dimensions of Europe’s transformation, from democratic resilience to technology governance and cultural self-understanding . Alongside keynote contributions from speakers including Siofra O’Leary and Roxana Mînzatu, the format combines plenary discussions with parallel sessions and interactive exchanges that encourage dialogue between research, policy and society .

The European Cultural Foundation and European Council on Foreign Relations will contribute perspectives shaped through their joint European Sentiment Compass, offering insight into how belonging, trust and values are evolving across the continent. Open to all upon registration, EUIdeas creates a space for sustained exchange across disciplines, complemented by informal moments including networking and cultural programming.
