COS Fund Democracy Resilience edition announces grantees

2 Dec 2024

Following up the Culture of Solidarity Fund calls which were directly concerned with voter mobilisation in the run up to the 2024 European Parliament elections, this follow-up round of the Democracy Resilience edition welcomed proposals for collaborative, creative initiatives that reinforce Europe’s core values and inspire Europeans to reengage with their democracies in a hopeful and forward-looking manner.

“As a platform for 450 million citizens for actively shaping their shared future, the European parliamentary elections were set out to be a celebration of European sentiment and democracy. And yet here we are, many of us grappling with feelings of anxiety and confusion over the future of the ‘European project’. With pivotal national and regional elections still on the horizon this year, we must seize this moment to come together and make a compelling case for a desirable European future,” we wrote in July 2024.

Culture holds great potential to unite Europeans across diverse backgrounds and beliefs. So without further ado, please meet creative initiatives that build pan-European alliances, promote democratic engagement, and inspire youth to reengage with their democracies.

Meet the grantees

Culture of Solidarity Fund

In 2020 we launched the Culture of Solidarity Fund to support cultural initiatives that, in the midst of turmoil and crisis, reinforce European solidarity and the idea of Europe as a shared public space. Since then, in twelve rounds, we have supported 275 projects with almost than 6 million euros with 20 co-funding partners on board. Nearly half of the supported projects fell within the special Ukraine rounds of the fund.
