COS grantee LIBRECAST presents case studies of sovereign media distribution across Europe

3 Apr 2023

“We have become increasingly dependent on big tech for our media production and distribution in Europe. This means big tech companies can dictate the rules of the game. And these rules are often commercial in nature, instead of serving the public good,” Librecast writes on their projectpage on the Public Spaces website. They continue writing “we desperately need more sovereignity in our media systems to ensure a well functioning democratic media landscape.”

On the website you will find links to various case-studies, ranging from education tools for data sovereignty to syndicated social practice platforms. Find all of them on this dedicated page.

Many of the topics raised in the case-studies will be discussed during the 2023 Public Spaces conference in Amsterdam based cultural venue Pakhuis de Zwijger on June 27 – 28 which will focus on the commons.
