Championing Culture for Europe’s Future. Cultural Deal for Europe annual policy conversation 2024 POSTPONED
7 Oct 2024
Last week the European Parliament announced the hearings of the Commissioners-designate, which are now set to start on 4 November and run until 12 November.
The Culture Committee and other members of the European Parliament will be taking part in hearings coinciding with our planned “Championing Culture for Europe’s Future. Cultural Deal for Europe annual policy conversation 2024”. Due to this overlap, we are postponing our annual conversation to a later date when the new College of European Commissioners and the European Parliament will be fully in place.
We thank the more than 330 already registered participants and all those who were planning to join us in Brussels on 5 November for their interest in the Cultural Deal for Europe, and we will share a new date with you as soon as possible.
If you plan to follow the hearings and get a culture sector view ahead of the “grilling”, we recommend reading Culture Action Europe’s analysis of the European Commission President’s Mission Letter to Glenn Micallef, the designated Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture, and Sport.
We wish the Cultural Committee and the Commissioner-designate success next month and look forward to welcoming them and you to our annual conversation soon. Culture is Chefsache, and together we need to make culture centre-stage in and for Europe. Join the job!
Culture Action Europe, Europa Nostra, European Cultural Foundation, the three initiators of the Cultural Deal for Europe, and our partner for the event, Centre for Fine Arts Brussels – Bozar look forward to welcoming you soon..
“Why is it so important to prioritise culture in the current European legislative term and how do culture, arts and cultural heritage play a vital role in the future of Europe?” That is the central question of ‘Championing Culture for Europe’s Future. Cultural Deal for Europe annual policy conversation 2024‘.
Culture Action Europe (CAE), Europa Nostra, and the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) – three organisations behind A Cultural Deal for Europe in partnership with Centre for Fine Arts Brussels – Bozar, invite you to the upcoming Annual Policy Conversation. This edition of our Cultural Deal annual events will be the first of the new European Parliament term.
Europe stands at a critical juncture, confronted by war, division, and polarisation which are eroding the very fabric of our societies. Internal and external pressures grow continuously, shaking fundamental values and destabilising democratic systems. In the face of these challenges, Europe’s greatest strength lies in its culture and cultural heritage. They are what will enable us to actively reimagine and rebuild the future of Europe. This is why Europe needs a new strategic vision – a Cultural Deal for Europe.
A Cultural Deal for Europe brings together numerous European networks as well as thousands of individuals calling to promote our democratic and cultural values by investing in culture across EU policies.
