Artists Lead Cultural Recovery at Ukraine’s ArtsLink Assembly

13 May 2025

This May in Lviv, artists and organisers from across Ukraine and its diaspora will launch new strategies for rebuilding the country’s cultural field — at the ArtsLink Assembly: Beyond Greener Grass.

From 23–24 May at the Jam Factory Art Center, the Assembly will bring together outcomes from a series of workshops held last year in Kyiv, Lviv, Warsaw, and Berlin. These sessions focused on cultural reconstruction during wartime and on building lasting connections across borders, not just within them.

Now, those conversations are becoming action. Artists, curators, and cultural leaders will share project ideas, offer proposals for long-term support, and reflect on how Ukraine’s cultural scene can continue to evolve. Beyond Greener Grass is about how people hold on to identity, community, and creativity in the middle of disruption. The programme includes screenings of the Distant Pairs commissions and a live concert by Maryana Klochko and Oleksii Podat.

The majority of attendees will join remotely. All public events will be live-streamed in Ukrainian and English and archived online for anyone to access. In-person attendance requires registration—full details and updates are available on the event page.

ArtsLink Assembly is organised by CEC ArtsLink with the Ukrainian Institute and Jam Factory Art Center. It’s supported by our Culture of Solidarity Fund, which backs cultural action in times of crisis.
