A New Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts in Europe
18 Mar 2025
Art has the power to shape the future of Europe. That’s why we’ve joined forces with ten leading philanthropic foundations to launch the Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts, a bold initiative that champions the role of culture in tackling some of Europe’s most pressing challenges. From climate action to social justice, we believe that socially engaged arts foster solidarity, dialogue, and imaginative solutions for a more inclusive and resilient society.
Through advocacy, funding, and the new Fellowship for Socially Engaged Arts, we are investing in cultural leaders and organizations that drive meaningful change in their communities. Together, we aim to elevate the visibility of socially engaged arts, push for greater support, and inspire a Europe where creativity empowers communities. The deadline for the Fellowship is February 24, 2025—an opportunity to strengthen networks and amplify impact.
The Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts brings together 11 of Europe’s leading philanthropic funders to pool their resources, create a unified support network and amplify advocacy efforts to unlock the potential of socially engaged arts in driving real social change:
Allianz Foundation, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Cariplo Foundation, Compagnia di San Paolo, Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, European Cultural Foundation, Hilti Foundation, King Baudouin Foundation, La Caixa Foundation, Moleskine Foundation and Stiftung Mercator Schweiz.
The Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts is hosted at the Network of European Foundations.
