In our focus area ‘Libraries for Europe’, ECF and partners support libraries as community hubs that strengthen inclusion, participation and cooperation across differences and borders. We do so in our annual programme The Europe Challenge – bringing together teams from libraries and communities across Europe to address social, digital, and climate challenges.
The Europe Challenge featured amongst the consulted bodies for the Strengthening Europe through Public Libraries report. Developed by an Open Method of Coordination group of library experts under the EU Work Plan for Culture 2023–2026, the report explores the challenges and opportunities facing public libraries today. It is available online – before being presented during the Irish EU Presidency in Dublin on October 29. During the four webinars we invite you to discover the innovative work of libraries and communities participating in The Europe Challenge around the 4 metaphors for libraries proposed by the report: hub, marketplace, laboratory and sanctuary. You can register for these via this link.
